The Priscillas reboot continues with their third single this year produced by Paul Tipler (Elastica, Julian Cope). London’s female power-punk band brings “Plastic” to their repertoire – a dark, mysterious tune shot from their melodic pop canon. They celebrate its launch on 1st December at London’s legendary venue The Water Rats.
“Plastic” is a dramatic twist on their previous singles. Where The Priscillas once lived on a comic book landscape of Superheroes and Zombies, they now exist in teen magazines with date dramas, premonitions and environmental issues. The apocalyptic theme depicts a world facing extinction with emotive, reverberating call and response harmonies, tribal drum beats, tense basslines and immediate guitar hooks. A powerful observation of the
destruction of our planet, the tension-building “Plastic” is a live highlight.
The Priscillas’ Jenny: lead vocals, Valkyrie: guitarist/vocals (and Lene Lovich bassist), Taylor: bass, and Jola: drummer (and Adam Ant) have had a busy 2024. They were sole support for L7’s only UK date at a sold-out Electric Ballroom. They toured with Lene Lovich, Gaye Bykers on Acid, Kathy Valentine (The Go-Gos) and played Pride Southampton and Somers Town Festival.
“Plastic” follows “The Dream” a tribute to the late Pete Shelley and “Angela” about the women’s safety campaign, both of which received critical acclaim and global airplay on Resonance UK, Sirius XM USA, Dublin City FM, Love FM Japan, and VFM Australia. The Priscillas featured in The LA Times, Blitzed and Vive Le Rock magazines along with
interviews on Loud Women. 2025 is shaping up nicely with performances confirmed at Cro Cro Land and Rebellion festivals.
